Southern Nazarene University appointed Tim Eades as the new university provost. The appointment will be made effective in June.

“The selection of Dr. Tim Eades as provost at SNU represents a strategic commitment to our present and our future,” said Keith Newman, SNU president. “His experience and expertise as an innovative administrative and academic leader in Christian higher education over the last 20 years will prove to be invaluable. I believe he is uniquely prepared for this season in SNU's history and I am excited for he and his wife, Dr. Kimberly Eades, to join the SNU community.”

Eades comes to SNU from Trevecca Nazarene University, where he has served as associate provost and executive vice president of Graduate and Continuing Studies since 2014. His oversight included over 60 full-time faculty and staff and nearly 100 adjunct faculty.

Under his five years of leadership with TNU, the School of Graduate and Continuing Studies was formed and nontraditional enrollment expanded from 1,394 in 2014 to 2,464 in 2018 with the development and revision of dozens of academic degree offerings with a specific emphasis related to online education. Online student enrollments grew from 165 to over 1,300 students in fully online degree programs ranging from the associate to doctoral level.

Before working at TNU, Eades served from 2010 to 2014 as the assistant provost and vice president for Nontraditional Education and Development at Ohio Christian University. OCU’s nontraditional enrollment grew from 790 to 3,200 students during his tenure.

From 1994 to 1996, Eades was the assistant director of student recruitment at Mount Vernon Nazarene University before returning to a ministry position and later working as a financial advisor. He returned to MVNU in 2003 and served in three positions — director of admissions and student recruitment, executive director of enrollment services and marketing, and associate vice president for adult and graduate studies.

Eades is an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene. He earned a bachelor’s degree in religion from Trevecca, a Master of Ministry from Mount Vernon Nazarene University, and a Doctorate of Education in Ethical Leadership from Olivet Nazarene University

Over the past decade, he has served as a consultant for three small firms devoted to Christian higher education. Eades teaching interests include courses in leadership, organizational change, ministry, and marketing.

Tim and Kimberly have three daughters — Grace is a freshman film studies major at Trevecca while Devin and Alison live in the Dayton, Ohio, area.
