A team from the Pies Ligeros (Light Feet) initiative in Argentina traveled to the “triple border” region for 10 days to help restore churches in the area and carry out evangelism activities in the communities. 

The triple border is an area where the borders of Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay all meet, separated by the Paraná and Iguazu Rivers. During the 10-day trip, the team worked to restore church buildings and property in addition to sharing a Vacation Bible School where children, teenagers, and mothers were present. Approximately 40 VBS participants received a snack, lunch, teaching materials, and the transformative message of Jesus Christ.

Pies Ligeros is an initiative that aims to motivate and train those who feel a call to missions.

The initiative came about thanks to the Iglesia del Nazareno El Cruze from Pilar, Argentina. The idea of the trip arose out of a need shared by the Borges family, sponsored missionaries in Paraguay. 

“We are very blessed to have this group with us,” the Borges said. “They opened doors for our ministry by cleaning and painting, and [their] donations gave us new tools to move forward. The life testimony of these young people impacted our lives. God bless everybody.”

One of these needs was the challenge of restoring the Iglesia del Nazareno Barrio Don Bosco in Ciudad del Este, Paraguay. A great challenge for the team was also to evangelize in Campesinos, a community that struggles with crime, drug trafficking, prostitution, and extreme destitution. 

“It was a time of great blessing where as a team we were challenged, moved, and willing to give everything so that the message of salvation would continue to spread,” said Priscilla Ventura, Pies Ligeros project coordinator. “This is just the beginning of a generation that rises to share His message.”

The team also had the opportunity to visit two other Nazarene churches: Barrio Obrero in Paraguay and a church in Foz do Iguazú, Brazil, where they ministered through their testimonies, worship, and preaching.

“We are very happy and grateful to the Lord for what He has allowed our young people to live on this missionary journey,” said Hernán Massacesi, pastor of Iglesia del Nazareno El Cruze. “He allowed us to have a wonderful dynamic as a local church throughout the process. [The volunteers] are there serving, giving their best, and we are here praying at all times. United in the Spirit, the proposal of Pies Ligeros renewed us sensitively in the missionary vision that we must have as a church.”
