Mexico Baptisms

Amidst the challenges in Chihuahua, Mexico, such as high rates of violence and human trafficking, a ray of hope has emerged through faith. In August, five courageous women from Los Alamos decided to be baptized, publicly proclaiming their desire to follow Jesus.

This significant event took place thanks to the work of the Genesis missionary team, which was made up of Dawilda Rodriguez (Dominican Republic), Jael Estrada (Mexico), and Luis Pineda (El Salvador). Since last year, they have been ministering in areas of the city where the Church of the Nazarene has little presence.

The five women, some of whom had struggled with feelings of abandonment and sadness, found new hope in Christ's message.

"They are brave, and their transformation is a testimony to the power of God," Pineda said.

Baptism represents not only an act of faith but also a new beginning. After being baptized, these women and five others officially joined the Church of the Nazarene, committing to live a life of holiness and compassion.

The community is now known as the Oasis Christian Community, and new members are being discipled to ensure that once the missionaries leave, there will be strong leaders to continue the work of evangelization.

This act of faith is a powerful reminder that hope and transformation are possible even in the most challenging circumstances. The Génesis Chihuahua team invites the community to pray for this new congregation and the positive impact they seek to generate in Chihuahua.
