Nazarene Youth International held The Journey, a live online event on YouTube, 13-14 August. Over 10,000 youth across all six global regions participated in the event, which was translated into 15 different languages.

The event brought the Journey of Grace discipleship framework alive in a relatable way for the denomination’s youth. The service was streamed three separate times over the two-day period to reach as many around the world as possible.

“A big thanks to our global NYI team around the world, World Mission Communications, our amazing translation team, and those who made our first-ever international online gathering possible,” said David Gonzalez, global NYI director. “We are excited to continue on this journey together.”

When viewers logged in, they were immediately greeted by NYI members around the world, who sang in their native language and danced, sharing their cultural traditions with the global audience.

“We would like also to thank all of the global NYI team for having such a wonderful event,” said a participant from Eastern Visayas NYI. “Thank you for being part of our journey. This is just a beginning and it will not end here. We will continue our journey with the knowledge you shared with us and also with the guidance of our Creator. All glory to Him!”

Over the course of the event, students saw the Journey of Grace demonstrated through speakers, activities, and music. The event was followed by an afterparty on Zoom that brought The Journey into a personal perspective for the students as well as giving them points of interaction bridging the gap between international borders for many of these students.

“They were two truly refreshing days for my spirit,” said another participant from Mexico NYI. “It was a reminder of why I decided to venture on this path and that definitely with everything—ups and downs, bumps and turns—it is worth touring because we are not alone in this. God's grace is there, God is there, Jesus is there, the Holy Spirit is there, and many more people who are walking the same path are there to love us, accompany us, lift us up, and encourage us. I love my Nazarene family and my church. It may not be perfect, but in moments like these, I am sure [the event] put a smile on God's face and filled me with a lot of hope.”

Global NYI has made resources available for students to continue learning about The Journey. There are six videos accompanying The Journey Travel Log with more resources to come. Click here to access the resources, and follow along with NYI on Facebook, and Instagram.
