More than 50 members of the Ululoloa Church of the Nazarene visited the home for the elderly in Vailele, Samoa, in late January. The local church’s Nazarene Missions International spearheaded this special ministry with the support of Nazarene Youth International, marking the beginning of a blessed year.

Mapuifagalele Home for the Aged is the only elderly home in Samoa. This elderly home is run by Sisters of the Poor, a nonprofit organization in Apia. Ululoloa Church generously contributed food and gifts to the elderly while the youth prepared various items to minister to the residents.

The Lord’s presence was felt throughout the visit. The most impactful moment was when the team approached each elderly resident to offer individual prayers. As each team member prayed for them, they observed tears of joy and gratitude as the Lord ministered to the hearts of the elders, the team members and even the nuns present.

“This is the first time we have had a group do one-on-one prayers for us,” said one of the head nuns.

The nuns were deeply moved and requested individual prayers, further highlighting the significance of their visit. Numerous testimonies emerged from this seemingly small but powerful act of outreach, emphasizing its profound impact on all involved.

Seeing the elders being blessed by the prayers and gifts was a joy. Moreover, seeing the young people minister with such fervor was overwhelming, confirming to the leaders how passionate and eager the young people are to be utilized in God’s work.

Overall, the visit to the home for the elderly in Vailele was a testament to the Lord’s presence, the power of prayer, and the vibrant spirit of the youth in ministry. The team is grateful for the opportunity to serve and looks forward to many more such impactful moments in the future.
