Gabriel Kaulo, superintendent of the New Guinea Islands District, passed away on April 26, 2021.  He was 61 years old.

Kaulo was born on 2 May 1959 in Jiwaka Province, Papua New Guinea. On a Sunday morning in 1984, he gave his life to Jesus at Banz Town Church of the Nazarene. He heard God’s call to be a pastor and enrolled at Melanesia Nazarene Bible College, where he graduated in 1989. Kaulo served as pastor of Bilu Nazarene Church for eight years and six years at Banz Nazarene Church. He became superintendent of Bromely District for 11 years, North Coast District for 13 years, and NGI District for a year. Kaulo also served as the chairman of the Papua New Guinea National Board.

“Gabriel Kaulo will be greatly missed in Church of the Nazarene in Papua New Guinea,” said Kafoa Muaror, strategy coordinator for the Melanesia-South Pacific Field. “He was a great leader, motivator, learner, compassionate servant, and visionary leader. He impacted a lot of people and gained a lot of spiritual sons and daughters. He was a dedicated and passionate servant leader, always ready to go and preach the gospel to people regardless of how treacherous the area could be. We are honored to have had the opportunity to partner with him and serve alongside him.”

Gabriel Kaulo is survived by his wife, Topoamb Grace, his seven children – Rachael, Lorry, James, LuVerne, Alsana, Ruth, Koti — and his eight grandchildren. His family was a strong witness of Kaulo’s faith, dedication, and service to his God as he poured his time, talent, and treasure to share God’s love to the people in Papua New Guinea.

A memorial service will be held to honor the life and ministry of Gabriel Kaulo on Thursday, May 6, 2021, in Kudjip.
