Roy Elden Carnahan faleceu no s\u00e1bado, 1 de julho  de 2017 depois de um ano de sa\u00fade em decl\u00ednio.<\/p>\n

Roy Carnahan nasceu em 19 de abril de 1927 em Wadsworth, Ohio, a \u00fanica crian\u00e7a de Kent e Bertha Carnahan. Ele era educado na Escola Element\u00e1ria da Universidade Kent State, De Puyster Junior High School e Theodore Roosevelt High School, todos em Kent, Ohio. Durante o ensino m\u00e9dio, ele dirigiu um caminh\u00e3o de entrega para a Loja de Hardware de Getz. A maioria de sua vida ele falou de acompanhar seu Tio Harlan na rota de entrega de leite pela manh\u00e3.<\/p>\n

Ele entrou no Col\u00e9gio Nazareno Oriental em 1944,  viajan do com a Associa\u00e7\u00e3o Evangel\u00edstica e  baixo de canto em grupos de quarteto de viagem. Em ENC ele tamb\u00e9m conheceu Doris Jackson de Rochester, Nova York. Eles eram casados depois da formatura em 1948 e se mudaram para Kansas City, Missouri, onde Roy participou do Semin\u00e1rio Teol\u00f3gico Nazareno, se formando em 1951. O casal aceitou uma designa\u00e7\u00e3o em Potsdam, Nova York, onde havia um edif\u00edcio de igreja, mas nenhuma congrega\u00e7\u00e3o. Seu primeiro filho, Elden, nasceu l\u00e1.<\/p>\n

Depois de um pastorado bem-sucedido em Potsdam, o casal se mudou para Rochester, Nova York, e come\u00e7ou outra nova congrega\u00e7\u00e3o l\u00e1, Igreja Calv\u00e1rio do Nazareno, e ajudou a estabelecer uma congrega\u00e7\u00e3o espanhola. Durante este tempo, filhos Stephen e Geren e filha Sherril nasceram. Em 1966, o casal e sua fam\u00edlia aceitaram uma designa\u00e7\u00e3o na Primeira Igreja do Nazareno em Baltimore, Maryland.<\/p>\n

Em 1969, Carnahan foi eleito superintendente do Distrito de Washington da Igreja do Nazareno (agora o Distrito Meio-Atl\u00e2ntico)  e serviu nessa posi\u00e7\u00e3o at\u00e9 a aposentadoria do minist\u00e9rio de tempo integral em 1992. Como superintendente, ele come\u00e7ou igrejas em Baltimore e Washington e come\u00e7ou o empreendimento do distrito em minist\u00e9rios haitianos, africano-americanos, coreanos e espanh\u00f3is. Durante esses anos, ele serviu no Conselho de Curadores do Col\u00e9gio Nazareno Oriental e subiu para se tornar presidente. Ele foi concedido um grau de Mestrado em Divindade ap\u00f3s a conclus\u00e3o de seu livro, Gerenciamento Pastoral<\/em> Criativo.<\/p>\n

Em aposentadoria, Carnahan serviu na equipe da Igreja Stillmeadow do Nazareno em York, ministrando para shut-ins e membros de igreja idosos.<\/p>\n

Os interesses de Carnahan inclu\u00edram carros, fotografia, viagens, hist\u00f3ria, acampamento e longas caminhadas com a fam\u00edlia e seus c\u00e3es. Tr\u00eas vezes ele liderou sua fam\u00edlia em uma viagem de acampamento em todo o pa\u00eds  e serviu em equipes de miss\u00e3o para muitos pa\u00edses. At\u00e9 os \u00faltimos meses de sua vida, ele era um leitor \u00e1vido e sempre pronto para discutir o \u00faltimo livro que ele havia lido.<\/p>\n

Roy sobreviveu por sua esposa de 68 anos, Doris Carnahan, e seus filhos, Elden e esposa, Mary, de Laurel, Maryland; Stephen e esposa, Judith Taylor de Auburn, Maine; Geren e esposa, Cheryl, de Hampton, Virg\u00ednia e Sherril Mohnkern e marido Mark de Petersburg, Pensilv\u00e2nia. Ele tamb\u00e9m sobreviveu por 12 netos e oito bisnetos.<\/p>\n
