1 in 10 people in Malawi don’t have access to clean water because of a series of droughts, flooding, and population growth.
Clean water is vital for a healthy population. After drilling wells near our churches, the ladies will be fetching water at the nearby well, not in rivers and ponds. Many school girls who skip school two or three days a week fetching water will to go school continuously. Some church ladies and pastors wives who wake up early morning on Sunday to look for water and miss church services will attend faithfully.
Malawi is a landlocked country in the Southern region of Africa with a population of over 18 million. In the past decade, it grew by nearly 5 million people. Over 4 million people in Malawi still lack access to safe water. They get their water from unprotected water supplies increasing the risk of water-borne diseases. Nearly 48% of the rural population travel for over 30 minutes or more one way to obtain their drinking water either in rivers or ponds where animals use the same water.
Since most of our churches in Malawi are in rural areas, placing water wells next to local churches will physically transform our members as well as the entire community. It will also create evangelism ministry opportunities, and lay a foundation for a brighter future.
The cost per well ranges between $6,000 and $8,000.These communities will feel God's love for them and presence in their lives because of these water wells made possible through your generous donation. Thank you!
