Shannon was an Elementary school ESL teacher and part-time Youth and Community Outreach Pastor for almost 10 years in Cheonan, South Korea.  God called her to be a missionary when she was a teenager at a District NMI convention on the VA district and even though she had been on many Work & Witness trips, she knew God was calling her to go and serve for a longer period of time. When she moved to Korea in 2008, it was just to try living in another country for 1 year. She fell in love with the culture, the food, and the people of Korea and it had definitely become like home, but for a few years, she felt like God was leading her to "go and make disciples" in a place that is less reached with the message of the Gospel.  She had been praying and looking for opportunities when God led her to Cambodia. God gave her this Scripture passage a few years ago that has shaped her for what He is calling her to do in Cambodia:

"The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor."-Isaiah 61:1-3.

Shannon's prayer is that God would use her to share the love and hope of Christ in an incarnational way with the people of Cambodia!
