Timothy L. Smith<\/a>, le \u00ab doyen de l’histoire de l’\u00c9glise nazar\u00e9enne \u00bb a lanc\u00e9 une nouvelle \u00e8re de compr\u00e9hension historique avec ses deux \u0153uvres classiques : Revivalisme et R\u00e9forme sociale en Am\u00e9rique (1957) et Appel\u00e9 \u00e0 la saintet\u00e9 (1962). Ce dernier \u00e9tait le travail le plus \u00e9rudit de l’histoire nazar\u00e9enne publi\u00e9 jusqu’\u00e0 ce moment-l\u00e0. Smith \u00e9tait l’un des principaux chercheurs \u00e9vang\u00e9liques du XXe si\u00e8cle et a laiss\u00e9 sa marque dans divers domaines, y compris l’\u00e9tude des immigrants, de la race et de la religion et diverses dimensions du mouvement wesleyen.
