James Whited, 75, de Winter Haven, Floride, est d\u00e9c\u00e9d\u00e9 le 9 septembre 2023. Il \u00e9tait un missionnaire retrait\u00e9 qui a servi \u00e0 Eswatini de 1977-1993.<\/p>\n

James Edward Whited est n\u00e9 le 9 f\u00e9vrier 1948 aux parents Robert et Ruby Whited.  <\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s avoir obtenu son dipl\u00f4me de l’Universit\u00e9 Olivet nazar\u00e9enne, il a re\u00e7u un dipl\u00f4me de sp\u00e9cialit\u00e9 en banque du sang de l’Universit\u00e9 d’\u00c9tat de l’Ohio. Il \u00e9tait \u00e0 Olivet o\u00f9 il a rencontr\u00e9 sa femme, Kathy.
\nIls se sont mari\u00e9s avant leur ann\u00e9e de derni\u00e8re et James a termin\u00e9 son \u00e9ducation en tant que technologue m\u00e9dical. Ils ont d\u00e9m\u00e9nag\u00e9 \u00e0 West Palm Beach, Floride, o\u00f9 ils \u00e9taient actifs dans la Premi\u00e8re \u00c9glise de Lake Worth du Nazar\u00e9en. Apr\u00e8s avoir assist\u00e9 \u00e0 une conf\u00e9rence missionnaire, ils ont tous deux senti Dieu les appeler \u00e0 poursuivre le service en tant que missionnaires outre-mer.  <\/p>\n

Ils ont pass\u00e9 16 ans au Swaziland (maintenant Eswatini), avec Jim travaillant dans un h\u00f4pital nazar\u00e9en. L\u00e0, il a form\u00e9 des jeunes hommes et des femmes en tant que techniciens de laboratoire, les mentorant spirituellement. Le couple a \u00e9galement transport\u00e9 des \u00e9tudiants dans la brousse pendant de nombreux mois, tenant des services du dimanche sous un arbre jusqu’\u00e0 ce qu’une \u00c9glise de bloc de boue soit construite. <\/p>\n

Vivre en Afrique leur a donn\u00e9 de nombreuses opportunit\u00e9s de voyage et d’aventure. Sur une randonn\u00e9e \u00e0 travers une r\u00e9serve de vie sauvage voisine, une temp\u00eate de foudre a commenc\u00e9. Kathy voulait chercher abri dans une grotte, mais Jim ne pensait pas que cela \u00e9tait sage – qui savait ce qui \u00e9tait cach\u00e9 \u00e0 l’int\u00e9rieur ? Son conseil \u00e9tait de suivre les girafes sur la m\u00eame piste parce qu’elles \u00e9taient plus grandes et la foudre les frapperait premi\u00e8rement.<\/p>\n

 En 1992, l’h\u00f4pital a \u00e9t\u00e9 donn\u00e9 au gouvernement swazi, de sorte que le couple est revenu en Floride. \u00c0 Winter Haven, ils ont travaill\u00e9, ont jou\u00e9 et ont servi \u00e0 l’\u00c9glise et dans la communaut\u00e9. Jim a travaill\u00e9 dur mais a toujours trouv\u00e9 du temps pour sa famille et a fourni un exemple divin pour eux.<\/p>\n

Jim \u00e9tait un fou de sant\u00e9 qui s’est concentr\u00e9 sur une alimentation saine, l’exercice, le yoga et la course. Apr\u00e8s avoir pris sa retraite, il s’est port\u00e9 volontaire \u00e0 l’\u00e9cole \u00e9l\u00e9mentaire Pinewood en pr\u00e9parant de nouveaux livres pour la circulation dans la biblioth\u00e8que et en remplissant des sacs \u00e0 dos de nourriture pour les \u00e9tudiants \u00e0 prendre \u00e0 la maison au cours du week-end. Cette opportunit\u00e9 a pris fin pendant la pand\u00e9mie de COVID-19, mais il a continu\u00e9 \u00e0 servir \u00e0 l’\u00c9glise de Heartland, inaugurant et servant dans les coulisses.<\/p>\n

Il \u00e9tait un passionn\u00e9 de plein air qui a appr\u00e9ci\u00e9 un style de vie actif et la lecture de bons romans myst\u00e8re. Il \u00e9tait un disciple fid\u00e8le du Christ, un membre de l’\u00c9glise de Heartland, un mari d\u00e9vou\u00e9 et un p\u00e8re et grand-p\u00e8re aimant.<\/p>\n

Jim est surv\u00e9cu par sa femme de 53 ans, Kathy ; enfants Brooke et Ryan ; et quatre petits-enfants.<\/p>\n
