James Thornton fue elegido superintendente del Distrito Noreste de Oklahoma el 6 de junio de 2026 durante la 74.\u00aa asamblea del distrito. Thornton actualmente se desempe\u00f1a como pastor de la Iglesia del Nazareno de Tulsa Hills en Oklahoma.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n

Thornton tiene una licenciatura en Teolog\u00eda y Educaci\u00f3n Cristiana (1991) y una maestr\u00eda en Liderazgo de Iglesias (2009) de Southern Nazarene University. Adem\u00e1s, tiene una maestr\u00eda en Liderazgo Organizacional y Comportamiento Humano (2025) de Amberton University.<\/p>\n\n\n

Fue pastor de la Iglesia del Nazareno Eastborough de Colorado Springs, Colorado, de 1991 a 1993; de la Iglesia del Nazareno de Oro Valley, Arizona, de 1993 a 1995; y de la Iglesia del Nazareno Life Community de Corvallis, Oreg\u00f3n, de 1995 a 1997.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

En septiembre de 1997, fue llamado a ser pastor de la Iglesia del Nazareno de Grants Pass, Oreg\u00f3n, donde sirvi\u00f3 hasta marzo de 1999. En marzo de 1999, fue llamado a ser pastor de la Iglesia del Nazareno de Tulsa Hills, Oklahoma, donde ha servido desde entonces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adem\u00e1s de pastorear la iglesia local, Thornton fue director del ministerio de hombres del Distrito Noreste de Oklahoma de 2007 a 2010, miembro del consejo asesor del distrito en 2006, del consejo directivo de la Universidad Nazarena del Sur desde 2022 y secretario del distrito desde 2007.<\/p>\n\n\n
