El presidente de la Universidad de Mount Vernon Nazarena, Henry W. Spaulding  II, anunci\u00f3 el nombramiento de James Smith a la posici\u00f3n de vicepresidente de Relaciones Universitarias el 1 de junio.<\/p>\n

Rev. James Smith ha trabajado de manera muy efectiva durante 10 a\u00f1os en la inscripci\u00f3n ayudando a la universidad a estabilizar y fortalecer la inscripci\u00f3n, dijo Spaulding. Smith traer\u00e1 la misma visi\u00f3n y pasi\u00f3n a su trabajo en Relaciones Universitarias. Tiene ricas conexiones con ex alumnos, que mejorar\u00e1 su capacidad de construir un apoyo financiero m\u00e1s fuerte para el trabajo de MVNU.<\/p>\n

Smith tiene una historia profunda con MVNU y la Iglesia de la Regi\u00f3n de Estados Unidos \/ Canad\u00e1<\/a> de la Nazarena. Su familia ha estado involucrada con MVNC \/ MVNU desde su fundaci\u00f3n en 1968. Sus padres, Jim (’72, ’85) y Terri (Clouse ’85) Smith, son ambos ex alumnos que regresaron con dos hijos peque\u00f1os en tow para terminar sus t\u00edtulos de bachillerato cuando MVNU se convirti\u00f3 en una instituci\u00f3n de cuatro a\u00f1os. Durante esos a\u00f1os, James pas\u00f3 innumerables horas en el campus despu\u00e9s de la escuela y en los descansos, asistiendo a clases junto a sus padres, yendo a la capilla en el viejo edificio de prop\u00f3sitos m\u00faltiples, atendiendo a su jard\u00edn del campus y leyendo en la biblioteca. Se enamor\u00f3 de MVNU y siempre sab\u00eda que quer\u00eda regresar para su propia educaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

Despu\u00e9s de graduarse con una licenciatura en artes de Mount Vernon Nazarene College en 1999, James y su esposa, Kelly (’99), sirvieron en varios roles del ministerio en las iglesias nazarenas en Marietta, Sidney, Findlay y Bowling Green, Ohio.<\/p>\n

James regres\u00f3 al campus en 2008 como el director de Admisiones de Pregrado y Reclutamiento de Estudiantes (2008-2013). Desde ese tiempo tambi\u00e9n sirvi\u00f3 como vicepresidente asistente de Administraci\u00f3n de Inscripci\u00f3n (2013-2015), vicepresidente asociado de Administraci\u00f3n de Inscripci\u00f3n (2015-2017), y vicepresidente de Administraci\u00f3n de Inscripci\u00f3n y Marketing (2017-2018).<\/p>\n

Ha sido un honor y privilegio contribuir a la vida de MVNU durante los \u00faltimos 10 a\u00f1os, dijo  James. Tengo un profundo amor por nuestros campus y las personas en ellos, pero tambi\u00e9n amo a la comunidad del campus que se expande m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de estas ubicaciones. Me doy cuenta de que el nombre MVNU no solo representa a los campus f\u00edsicos; representa a un pueblo.<\/p>\n

La oportunidad de invertir m\u00e1s profundamente en las vidas y las historias de esas personas, tanto en nuestros campus como en todo el mundo, me trae gran alegr\u00eda y emoci\u00f3n. El trabajo de las relaciones universitarias, los ex alumnos y la recaudaci\u00f3n de fondos nunca terminan, y s\u00e9 que tenemos una comunidad de ex alumnos y amigos que est\u00e1n comprometidos con nuestra misi\u00f3n y nos ayudar\u00e1n a lograr cualquier cosa que el Se\u00f1or ponga ante nosotros. Mientras entramos en el a\u00f1o de nuestra celebraci\u00f3n del 50\u00ba aniversario, estoy listo para ayudarnos a so\u00f1ar, planificar y encontrar los recursos que necesitaremos durante nuestros pr\u00f3ximos 50 a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n

Fuera de su trabajo en MVNU, Smith es reconocido por su experiencia en la administraci\u00f3n de inscripci\u00f3n. Ha servido mandatos como presidente del Consejo ACT del Estado de Ohio, Directores de Admisiones de Ohio Private College y la Red de Oficiales de Inscripci\u00f3n Nazarena. Tambi\u00e9n ha servido en el Comit\u00e9 Asesor de Ohio College Credit Plus, la junta ejecutiva de la Asociaci\u00f3n de Ohio para el Consejo de Admisiones Universitarias, la junta ejecutiva del Consejo ACT del Estado de Ohio y el Consejo de Investigaci\u00f3n de Ohio ACT.<\/p>\n

Smith se gradu\u00f3 de MVNU con una Licenciatura en Artes en religi\u00f3n y el ministerio juvenil y tiene una Maestr\u00eda en Artes en el ministerio educativo de la Universidad de Huntington. James y Kelly tienen cuatro hijos, Halle (12), Judah (9), Phineas (8) y Asher (6).<\/p>\n
