Roy Elden Carnahan muri\u00f3 el s\u00e1bado 1 de julio  de 2017 despu\u00e9s de un a\u00f1o de declinar la salud.<\/p>\n

Roy Carnahan naci\u00f3 el 19 de abril de 1927 en Wadsworth, Ohio, el \u00fanico hijo de Kent y Bertha Carnahan. Fue educado en la Escuela Elemental de la Universidad Estatal de Kent, De Puyster Junior High School y Theodore Roosevelt High School, todos en Kent, Ohio. Durante la escuela secundaria, manej\u00f3 un cami\u00f3n de entrega para la Tienda de Hardware de Getz. La mayor parte de su vida habl\u00f3 de acompa\u00f1ar a su t\u00edo Harlan en la ruta de entrega de leche de la ma\u00f1ana.<\/p>\n

Ingres\u00f3 en el Eastern Nazarene College en 1944,  viajan do con la Asociaci\u00f3n Evangel\u00edstica y singing bass en grupos de cuarteto viajeros. En ENC tambi\u00e9n conoci\u00f3 a Doris Jackson de Rochester, Nueva York. Estaban casados despu\u00e9s de la graduaci\u00f3n en 1948 y se mudaron a Kansas City, Missouri, donde Roy asisti\u00f3 al Seminario Teol\u00f3gico Nazareno, gradu\u00e1ndose en 1951. La pareja acept\u00f3 una asignaci\u00f3n en Potsdam, Nueva York, donde hab\u00eda un edificio de la iglesia pero no una congregaci\u00f3n. Su primer hijo, Elden, naci\u00f3 all\u00ed.<\/p>\n

Despu\u00e9s de un pastorado exitoso en Potsdam, la pareja se mud\u00f3 a Rochester, Nueva York, y comenz\u00f3 otra nueva congregaci\u00f3n all\u00ed, la Iglesia Calvario de la Nazarena, y ayud\u00f3 a establecer una congregaci\u00f3n espa\u00f1ola. Durante este tiempo, nacieron los hijos Stephen y Geren y la hija Sherril. En 1966, la pareja y su familia aceptaron una asignaci\u00f3n en la Primera Iglesia de la Nazarena en Baltimore, Maryland.<\/p>\n

En 1969, Carnahan fue elegido superintendente del Distrito de Washington de la Iglesia de la Nazarena (ahora el Distrito del Atl\u00e1ntico Medio)  y sirvi\u00f3 en esa posici\u00f3n hasta la jubilaci\u00f3n del ministerio de tiempo completo en 1992. Como superintendente, comenz\u00f3 iglesias en Baltimore y Washington y comenz\u00f3 la aventura del distrito en los ministerios haitiano, africano-americano, coreano y espa\u00f1ol. Durante esos a\u00f1os, sirvi\u00f3 en la Junta de Fideicomisarios del Eastern Nazarene College y se levant\u00f3 para convertirse en presidente. Se le otorg\u00f3 una Maestr\u00eda en Divinidad al completar su libro, Administraci\u00f3n Pastoral<\/em> Creativa.<\/p>\n

En el retiro, Carnahan sirvi\u00f3 en el personal de la Iglesia Stillmeadow de la Nazarena en York, ministrando a closed-ins y miembros de la iglesia ancianos.<\/p>\n

Los intereses de Carnahan incluyeron autom\u00f3viles, fotograf\u00eda, viajes, historia, acampar y largas caminatas con la familia y sus perros. Tres veces lider\u00f3 a su familia en un viaje de campamento a trav\u00e9s del pa\u00eds  y sirvi\u00f3 en equipos de misi\u00f3n a muchos pa\u00edses. Hasta los \u00faltimos meses de su vida, era un lector \u00e1vido y siempre listo para discutir el \u00faltimo libro que hab\u00eda le\u00eddo.<\/p>\n

A Roy le sobrevive su esposa de 68 a\u00f1os, Doris Carnahan, y sus hijos, Elden y esposa, Mary, de Laurel, Maryland; Stephen y esposa, Judith Taylor de Auburn, Maine; Geren y esposa, Cheryl, de Hampton, Virginia, y Sherril Mohnkern y el esposo Mark de Petersburg, Pensilvania. Tambi\u00e9n le sobreviven 12 nietos y ocho bisnietos.<\/p>\n
