Elton Wood, 97, de Riverside, Rhode Island, muri\u00f3 el 22 de junio de 2023. Era un ministro jubilado, un evangelista y un misionero que sirvi\u00f3 en Cabo Verde y Brasil durante 40 a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n

James Roy Elton Wood naci\u00f3 el 1 de junio de 1928 en Lubbock, Texas, al Sr. y la Sra. S. L. Wood, ministros en Bowie, Texas. Dio su vida al Se\u00f1or a los 16 a\u00f1os y cuatro a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s sinti\u00f3 la llamada al campo de misiones. <\/p>\n

Elton sirvi\u00f3 como evangelista antes de conocer a su esposa, Margaret Little. Estaban casados en mayo de 1947 y sirvieron como pastores estudiantiles en la Iglesia Hennessey de la Nazarena en Oklahoma durante un a\u00f1o. Evangelizaron juntos en Oklahoma hasta que se graduaron de Bethany Nazarene College en 1952.<\/p>\n

Elton y Margaret fueron comisionados como misioneros durante la reuni\u00f3n de 1952 de la Junta General. Elton sirvi\u00f3 como director del colegio b\u00edblico en Cabo Verde desde 1953 hasta 1975. Durante ese tiempo, tambi\u00e9n pastore\u00f3 en la Iglesia Mindelo de la Nazarena y la Iglesia de Praia de la Nazarena en la ciudad capital de Cabo Verde.<\/p>\n

En 1976 el Woods se mud\u00f3 a Brasil para convertirse en presidente del Seminario Nazareno en Campinas, Sao Paulo. All\u00ed, Elton ayud\u00f3 a desarrollar el campus construyendo nueve edificios diferentes. La biblioteca en el seminario lleva el nombre de Wood.<\/p>\n

De 1981 a 1984, Elton tambi\u00e9n sirvi\u00f3 como director de misi\u00f3n de Brasil, donde viaj\u00f3 a asambleas de distrito y ayud\u00f3 a identificar nuevas \u00e1reas para la plantaci\u00f3n de iglesias. \u00c9l y Margaret se jubilaron de misiones en 1993.
\nSu vida y legado son recordados y celebrados por muchos. Era conocido afectuosamente como \u00abPapo\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Elton fue precedido en la muerte por su esposa, Margaret, que muri\u00f3 en 2020.<\/p>\n

Le sobrevive su \u00fanica hija, Carol Wood Lima, y su esposo, Elizeu Lima; dos nietos, Shayla Lima Miranda y Shane Lima; y cuatro bisnietos, Chelsey, Celynna, Caleb y Christian.<\/p>\n
