Mafumbini Church of the Nazarene is located in Kilifi Town, Kenya. It is an organized church with a total membership of 300, and was started in the year 2002.  Mafumbini Church is located in an area where the majority of the young people in the community do not have a formal education. The poverty levels are high, so many children do not have the opportunity to go to school. Because of this situation, the Church Board decided to find a way to curb this situation. With the help of church members who are professional educators, the idea of a learning institution for children who are either orphaned or whose parents cannot support them was birthed, and this is what led to the start of Kilifi School.
When classes began, the church hall was used for classrooms, then later, semi permanent mud rooms were constructed.  These mud rooms are still being used for the children receiving a formal education. The number of children enrolled in the school has increased, and we hope to build more, bigger, pemanent, safe structures to be used as classrooms with the funds received for this project.
