Mark Lail

Dr. Mark E. Lail, Director of Stewardship Development 

Mark was elected by the General Board to direct the Stewardship Development team in 2008. Prior to his election, Mark pastored for 22 years in churches in New York and Ohio. He and his wife, Ruth, are grandparents of three and parents of five. Mark enjoys life when it includes old tractors, deer hunting, guitars, and lots of auctions. Mark loves to help pastors and church treasurers with the financial tasks of ministry.  He created the School of Stewardship to provide practical training in church finances and biblical stewardship. He is a key liaison for the denominational funding plan, Funding the Mission, and serves as a resource to various departments of the Global Ministry Center on matters related to stewardship. Mark chairs several committees, including the Ten Percent Committee, Designated Giving Committee, Rare Circumstance Adjustment Committee, and Global Ministry Center Chapel Committee.

Kevin R. Koker, Stewardship Coordinator

Kevin joined the team at Stewardship Development in July of 2014 and has lived in the Kansas City area for many years. Prior to his time in the Kansas City area, Kevin grew up in Mitchell, South Dakota, where his father was a Nazarene pastor. Kevin is a graduate of MidAmerica Nazarene University with a bachelor's degree in music. He was ordained in the Church of the Nazarene in 2004 and has served in associate pastoral ministry within the local church for more than 20 years. Kevin is married to Julie, who works as a registered nurse, and together they have two daughters, Faith and Lauren. Kevin enjoys helping pastors and church leaders find the resources they need in the areas of stewardship ministry. In his spare time he enjoys music, worship, sporting events, and being outdoors.


Dr. Stephen L. Borger, The COMPASS Initiative, Director

Steve grew up in Iowa, received a Business Administration degree from Olivet Nazarene University, and went on to complete the M.Div. degree at Nazarene Theological Seminary. He also holds a D.Min degree from NTS and was awarded the Doctor of Divinity from Northwest Nazarene University. Steve served as pastor for 25 years in Illinois and Idaho, 13 years as superintendent of the Intermountain District, and served on NNU and NTS Boards of Trustees and Executive Committees. He is now serving as Director of The COMPASS Initiative for the Church of the Nazarene. Steve and his wife Carol live on a little six-acre horse ranch south of Nampa, Idaho with two horses and a dog, and they raise steers in the spring/summer/fall.


Rev. Bonnie S. Beam, The COMPASS Initiative, Assistant Director

Bonnie is the face of The COMPASS Initiative at the Global Ministry Center and is located in Stewardship Development. She brings her administrative skills, pastoral experience, and attention to detail to this initiative that addresses the economic challenges facing Nazarene pastors in the United States. Bonnie has served on local church staffs as an associate pastor in the area of adult discipleship for 15 years, first in New England, and is currently at Christ Community Church of the Nazarene in Olathe, KS. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology at Eastern Nazarene College, her Master of Divinity at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and was ordained in 2008 as an Elder in the Church of the Nazarene. Bonnie and her husband, Jeff, have two children and enjoy traveling and learning new things.
