General Superintendent Jesse C. Middendorf, attending the South Florida district assembly, reports the district was $30,000 shy of reaching 100 percent WEF giving before one church (requesting to remain anonymous) volunteered to provide the rest and bring the WEF to 100 percent. "What a celebration erupted!" Middendorf said. This was the sixth time in the 38-year history of the South Florida District to achieve the 100 percent mark for WEF and first time in four years.
"Thank you for sharing the good news!" General Superintendent Eugenio R. Duarte said after receiving the South Texas report. Duarte called the South Texas District's $20,000 WEF overpayment a "wonderful response" and added that leadership must lead by example in both giving and spending, as well as letting the people who continue to give sacrificially know the Church's needs.
