 BGS
On February 16, 2010, the Board of General Superintendents met with seven of the general superintendents emeriti of the Church of the Nazarene at the Global Ministry Center in Lenexa, Kansas, U.S.A.

Emeriti who participated in the meeting were Jerald Johnson, Donald Owens, James Diehl, Paul Cunningham, Jim Bond, Talmadge Johnson, and Nina Gunter. Eugene Stowe, William Greathouse, and William Prince were unable to attend.

This historic gathering provided an invaluable opportunity for updating the emeriti on remarkable missional advancements being experienced by our churches across all the regions of the world - from the vast northern plains of Canada and the Dakotas to the rugged mountains of Papua New Guinea. These thrilling reports served as a fitting backdrop for presenting the goal of the meeting, which was for the Board to tap into the vast expertise of these seasoned leaders.

Specifically, the current general superintendents are asking the emeriti to partner with them in renewed efforts to help the local churches fulfill a greater vision of reaching beyond their local areas in the most effective and efficient manner possible. These Board members, past and present, are embracing the challenge of helping all our local churches to join forces in making the greatest possible impact worldwide.

The emeriti were invited to become ambassadors for this renewed commitment and to help communicate the miraculous and myriad stories of redemption that are taking place in the Church of the Nazarene around the world. They will be available for invitations to participate in local churches for special services, Faith Promise conventions, and other events.

To invite one of the emeriti to speak, please call the General Superintendents' Office at (913) 577-0510, or E-mail bgs@nazarene.org.
