While meditating on the book, "A Purpose-Driven Life," earlier this year, the Youth of Pelicano Church of the Nazarene in Madrid had an idea. Drawing on inspiration from the themes in the book, they decided to produce a full-length film called "Lives Without Purpose" about young Christians imagining their lives without Christ.
"We feel identified with it because somehow all of us have had a moment apart from God," said Jose Paredes, 24, one of the film's producers and directors.
The process to create the movie took about a month and a half. "It was hard and funny. We loved it, although we argued a lot," said Junior Pereira, 18, who also produced and directed the film.
The result is a 90-minute movie that showcases the despair in young lives without Christ and the hope that Christ can bring. More than 100 people, many of whom are not believers, gathered for the premiere at the Pelicano Church on 23 December.
The Pelicano Youth hope that the movie will be an instrument to impact lives in other places. They are already working on their next movie.
