General Assembly and Conventions 2013

Nazarenes will return to Indianapolis, Indiana, for the 2013 General Conventions and Assembly. Dates for the event are Wednesday, June 19, to Friday, June 28, 2013. The conventions run from June 19 to 21 with General Assembly committee and caucus meetings and business beginning on June 22 and going to June 27. June 23 will be Communion Sunday.

The 2009 General Conventions and Assembly were held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, due to demolition and construction projects at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, home of General Assembly 2013. The expansion, completed in January 2011, added 254,000 square feet of exhibit space, 63,000 square feet of meeting rooms, and 103,000 square feet of pre-function and registration space.

General Assembly continues to serve as the "supreme doctrine-formulating, lawmaking, and elective authority of the Church of the Nazarene" (Manual, 131). The General Assembly and auxiliary conventions (Nazarene Missions International, Nazarene Youth International, and Sunday School and Discipleship Ministries International) convene every four years, bringing together Nazarenes from around the globe.

Components of this quadrennial gathering are various, including: legislative meetings (election of general church leadership and consideration of and voting on resolutions), worship services, exhibits, workshops, service projects, and fellowship. While voting is restricted to officially-elected delegates, participation in the events of the General Assembly and Conventions is open to everyone.

Public registration and housing will open October 8th.
