Northwest district is on the Northwest region (USA).
Spokane—The Northwest District will celebrate its 100th Anniversary at its upcoming district assembly, April 14-16, 2004, at Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene, Spokane, Washington. Beginning with a service of remembrance and praise on Wednesday, April 14, 7:00 p.m., the Northwest District will be the first district in the USA to celebrate its centennial.
The Northwest District, which comprised the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana, was officially organized in the fall of 1904. A letter by then General Superintendent Phineas F. Bresee dated December 16, 1904, appointed H. D. Brown as the district’s first superintendent. The first assembly was held at Spokane First Church, July 4, 1905, with Bresee presiding.
Quoting from the first district minutes, "At sunrise, 3:45 a.m., some 50 persons assembled for a prayer meeting in the basement of the church. The Holy Spirit led and a glorious manifestation of His power was realized. At 6:30 this wonderful meeting adjourned. At 9:30 a.m., the district superintendent, the Rev. H. D. Brown, called the assembly to order."
