Juarez, Helmer and Susy - Guatemala

Helmer & Susy Juarez are serving as missionaries for the Church of the Nazarene in Guatemala.

Dr. Juarez is the Nazarene Compassionate Ministries Coordinator for the MAC Region, and is also a medical doctor. He was raised in the Nazarene Church as the son of a Nazarene Pastor who served among the Maya Indians of central Guatemala for many years. Helmer has also served as Director of the Hogar del Nińo in San Miguel Chicaj. There he supervised the care of the orphans that were brought to the Hogar, and after two years of institutional care made the decision to outplace them into private homes. Helmer and Susy have directed the Widow and Orphan child sponsorship program in Guatemala since its inception in 1985. Helmer has started numerous Bible studies, and planted a Spanish-speaking church in his home town of Tactic. Dr. Juarez has also planned and directed the Nazarene response to several major hurricanes and earthquakes. He also hosts several medical work teams each year. God is using these caring volunteers to open doors for the formation of many new congregations, especially when their medical skills are linked to the nightly showing of the Jesus Film.

Susy is a bilingual secretary by training, and works in the MAC Regional Office . She currently serves as the Regional Child Sponsorship Coordinator, making sure that monthly financial assistance gets to almost 1000 Pastor's Kids (PKs) and orphans on the MAC region. She has witnessed how loving sponsorships have transformed young lives which had no home or hope; these young people are today adults, parents, and contributing members of society because of the investment a Nazarene Child Sponsor made in them.

The Juarez' have two children, Carlos and Vivian, who reside with them in Guatemala City.
