Belize church ministers to community, prays with gang members

The Belmopan Church of the Nazarene in Belize City, Belize, ministered to several areas of the city 6 April in its To Southside With Love Part 2 outreach event. Church members handed out love packages containing food and personal care items and prayed for the needs in their community.

The love packages were well received, and those handing out the packages prayed with the recipients. There were many people who recommitted their lives to Christ, and gang members and gang leaders were willing to pray with team members.

The team previously held a stationary version of the event called To Southside With Love Part 1, while part 2 was a mobile project. Church members drove more than 100 miles by the end of the event.

“The faith of many, including that of the team, was strengthened,” said Paul Lopez, Belmopan Church member. “[Team members] walked into broken communities and shared the love of Christ selflessly.”

The Cameroon flag is a vertical tricolor of green, red and yellow, defaced with a five-pointed star in its center. The center stripe is thought to stand for unity: red is the colour of unity, and the star is referred to as "the star of unity." The yellow stands for the sun and also the savannas in the northern part of the country, while the green is for the forests in the southern part of Cameroon.
