Hiram was born in Havana, Cuba, in a pastoral family of the Church of the Nazarene. His father and mother, served as Nazarene pastors for 41 years and as well as Cuba's District superintendent.
Hiram began playing the piano and singing at the age of five at his parent's church and started to take piano lessons at the age of eight. Being 13, Hiram left the church and at 15 years old he began to play and sing in nightclubs. When he was 18, Hiram traveled to Moscow, Russia to study. There he earned a Master of Science degree in Arial-Photo Geodesic Engineering. Hiram also continued his musical studies and career in Russia, playing and singing in several international contests and festivals, but he was not a Christian at that point.
After his return to Cuba from Russia, in 1987, Hiram began to realize that he was living in a spiritual decay that had left him disillusioned and empty. Then he remembered the reverent fear of the Lord, taught to him by his parents and grandmothers at a very young age, so he decided to follow his parents' deep desire for him to become a follower of Jesus. This turning point in Hiram's life allowed him to realize that he couldn't be a follower of Christ only by fearing God, unless he accepted, by faith, the Lord Jesus as his only and personal Savior. Then when he was 24 years old, he decided to make a strong commitment to live for God. Subsequently, while reading the Scripture in Isaiah 61:1-2, Hiram received a call from the Lord to be a pastor and a missionary to evangelize and make disciples of his countrymen and of all nations. After that, he initiated his theological studies at the Cuban Nazarene Theological Seminary in Havana, Cuba. Then, he continued them for four more years at the Evangelical (Methodist) Seminary of Theology in Matanzas, Cuba, where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Theology. Hiram started his pastoral work in Cuba in 1990 and started planting churches, while still studying at the Seminary. He continued pastoring, starting missions and leading worship for several years in Cuba and also served at the same time as a chaplain in three high security prisons.
Hiram started touring the United States as a concert pianist since 1993 and has performed so far in more than 40 States of the Union. In 1998 he relocated to the U.S. for more pastoral, missionary and church planting work. Hiram also has continued since then to minister praise and worship along with full piano concerts.
In 2005, Hiram married Alba Yanina Rodriguez and shortly after that, they left for India to serve as missionaries in several cities like Gurgaon, Boboli, Hyderabad, Vishakhapatnam, New Delhi, Guwahati, Shimla, Shangla, etc. Hiram was training pastors, leading worship, teaching, preaching, helping to build Churches, schools, clinics and orphanages; and Yani, as a video producer in the media-development department of Maranatha India headquarters in DLF, Gurgaon in Haryana, India. They finished their work in India in 2008.
In 2010, Hiram and Yani started to serve as volunteer missionaries in the former Caribbean Regional Office, which later merged with Mexico and Central America Region (MAC) forming the new Mesoamerica Region. In 2012, Hiram and Yani were appointed as specialized assignment missionaries to serve in the Mesoamerica Regional Office, in Panama City, Panama (Central America), where they serve and reside today. Hiram serves as a literature editor, and Yani as a regional communication coordinator.
Yani is by career a Radio/TV producer, director and host. She graduated from the Panamanian University: Universidad del Itsmo, with a Bachelor Degree in Communications: a major in Radio/TV production and a minor in Journalism. Presently, she is a student at Atlantic International University, located in Hawaii and will graduate on 2017 with a Master's Degree in Communication Management.
