Submission Guidelines

  1. Articles should be submitted via e-mail as an attached file or by mail using diskette. The preferred format is Microsoft Word 97. WordPerfect, rich text format, html, or ASCII may also be accepted. Please use standard fonts (Times New Roman, Courier) single spaced and justified left.
  2. All articles will be published in html format and/or pdf format using Adobe Acrobat.
  3. Articles need not adhere strictly to these guidelines to be reviewed, but authors may be asked to make their articles conform to these guidelines before they are posted.
  4. All articles are subject to editing, though the author will have the opportunity to review substantive changes to the article before it is posted on the web.
  5. The author retains the copyright on the article though journal publications should be cited for scholarly research and are the academic property of the RIIE.
  6. Articles should use inclusive language as often as possible.
  7. Documentation should use in-line parenthetical references, following the format of your discipline's preferred handbook (MLS, APA and Chicago accepted but be consistent with format). One inch margins preferred, use headings as follows:
ARTICLE TITLE (Capitalize, centered and double spaced, follow with name and institution and other pertinent information)
First Headings (Centered, Italicized and double spaced)
Second Headings (Left Margin, Italicized and double spaced)
Third Headings (Left Margin, first of sentence, bold)
  8. Standard abbreviations from the AAR/SBL member handbook should be used. For an online list see TC: The Journal of Textual Criticism.
  9. Endnotes should be used sparingly for explanatory notes. They should be numbered consecutively and the numbers for the notes should be placed in square brackets.
Example: this is the first note [1]
and this is the second [2].
[1] Note one.
[2] Note two.
  10. The Works Cited should be included at the end.
