Paraguay Work & Witness trips impact local communities

by | 18 Jul 2019

In June, nearly 60 people from Missouri, Tennessee, Arizona, and Oklahoma served in four Work & Witness trips across Paraguay. The groups led community games, dances, and Bible lessons, offered free medical attention, and donated equipment and medicine to a local health center.

One group of nearly 30 participants traveled to Nueva Germania to repair and remodel the local church bathrooms and parsonage. Another group went to the Cuarto Barrio Church of the Nazarene in Luque to build a community center with multi-use classrooms for youth and children’s activities. Others taught courses in theology in four extension centers for theological education in San Lorenzo, Luque, Encarnacion, and Pilar.

“I can’t do anything more than give thanks to God for the selfless work of every brother and sister that worked in this past month,” said Pablo Tello, local district superintendent. “We are experiencing the love of God in first person through the extended hands that worked hard to make these dreams a reality. Hundreds of people came expectant to see what the groups would offer.”

During these projects, many people accepted Christ as their savior.

“These weeks were not just days of work but communities were impacted through evangelism and the preaching of the Word of God,” Tello said. “God has been moving people in Paraguay through Work & Witness, and He will continue to help many Churches of the Nazarene and people around the world.”
