Former missionary Faye Riley remembered

Retired missionary Loretta Faye (Allen) Riley passed away May 2. She was 80.

Faye was born in Stacy Fork, Kentucky, February 8, 1936. She was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School and Kentucky Mountain Bible College, Alton Memorial Hospital, Greenville College, and Indiana University. During her missionary service in Swaziland and South Africa, she was a nurse, midwife, and instructor at a Bible college and nursing instructor. She also worked at Middle Tennessee Mental Health Institute and later taught classes in grief management at the Tennessee Prison for Women in Nashville.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Thomas Riley; sisters Carole (Roger) Costa of Nashville, Tennessee, and Denise Travers of Port Canaveral, Florida; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Dr. Paul and Martha (Thomas) Riley of Riverside, California, and Duane and Lois (Riley) Norden of York, Nebraska; nieces, nephews, and cousins; extended family Esther and Jeff Swink, and a host of loving friends and co-workers.

Faye was preceded in death by her son, John Allen Riley; parents Clifford and Thelma Allen, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law David and Annie (Robinson) Riley.

Visitation will be held May 9 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Memorial service in Heritage Chapel, Nashville First Church of the Nazarene, 510 Woodland St.  Service will be video recorded.

At a later date, her ashes will be placed beside her son John in Memorial Gardens, Kankakee, Illinois.
