Canada community demographic reports tool now available

The Church of the Nazarene Research Services Office recently announced Canada community demographic reports are now available. This online resource allows users to look up demographic reports by postal code, city, province, or address.

“Research Services Senior Programmer Laura Lance has used the census data from Statistics Canada and arranged so that local churches in Canada now have a tool to better understand the communities around them,” said Rich Houseal, Research Services director. “The reports include information on population and growth, family structure, age groups, housing types, education levels, economic indicators (including poverty level), and culture.”

This can be a useful resource for current and future local church entities to more effectively reach their communities.

“By using the tool, a local church may discover a group of people nearby that they did not know was there,” Houseal said. “Or the local church may have a particular ministry already in place and can use the demographic tool to find places where people match the ministry’s target audience. Local churches and districts can also use the tool to examine potential sites for new churches.”

Until now, only churches in the United States have had access to this tool.

“Nazarene churches and districts in the USA have always given the Research Services office positive feedback concerning the online demographics reports we offer,” Houseal said. “Now, we are pleased to offer online demographic reports for our churches and districts in Canada.”

To use these demographic reports, go to nazarene.org/research-services, and click on either the Community Demographics (Canada) or Community Demographics (U.S.) button in the research menu to the right.
