Bolivia landslide leaves 4 missing, 300 homeless

by | 17 May 2019

Nearly 70 homes were destroyed 30 April in a landslide that swept through La Paz, Bolivia.

Major city roads have been closed off, more than 300 people are sleeping in tents at a local soccer field, and four people remain missing and are presumed to be trapped in the debris.

The local Church of the Nazarene is offering support by providing food for the victims. People from the community also provided food and clothing 1 May in celebration of Labor Day, a national holiday in Bolivia.

The South America Region and Bolivia districts are evaluating the most effective ways to continually meet the needs of the victims. Nazarene Youth International and Nazarene Compassionate Ministries have already been sent to prepare food as part of the initial crisis response plan.
